United Access, one of the leading accessible automotive and equipment dealerships in the United States, is searching for a qualified Automotive Technician/Mechanic to join our team full time in our Albuquerque, New Mexico store. We are a family-owned business that values customer service and integrity.

Compensation: We offer a competitive hourly wage plus production bonus. We offer paid time off, training, a 401 (k) program with company match, health and dental insurance.

Job Responsibilities of the Automotive Technician/Mechanic :

  • Service and repair wheelchair-accessible vans, and installation, service, and repair of vehicular wheelchair lifts. Some fabrication may be required.
  • Installation, service and repair of any additional driving aids per the individual needs of the client. Some fabrication may be required.
  • Obtain and maintain industry-relevant certifications.
  • Maintain work area and keep shop clean.
  • Communicate with the service manager and keep them apprised of progress and/or any issues found with the equipment which is being installed, serviced or repaired. Look for opportunities for up-sales.

Experience: Automotive Technician/Mechanic service experience is valued but is not required if a formal automotive education as noted above can be verified. If there is no automotive education it's essential the candidate has had experience working with cars/installations.

Work Environment: The Automotive Technician/Mechanic will be working indoors in a well-vented and well-lighted repair shop.There will be times when the shop will be noisy due to power and machine tools. This role will be frequently working in an area with dirty, greasy parts and be working in awkward positions. The position must be able to move heavy parts/machinery up to 30 pounds. The Service Technician will report to the Service Manager.

Required Skills of the Automotive Technician/Mechanic

  • Must have valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Must have high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have at least 2 years of experience as an automotive technician, or equivalent educational experience in the field of automotive repair. ASE Certifications preferred, but not required. Fabrication experience also preferred, but not required. Must be able to perform electrical and mechanical diagnosis and repair including but not limited to reading wiring diagrams, following trouble-trees, etc.
  • Must have your own tools.
  • Must possess strong problem-solving skills.
  • Must be able to move heavy parts or machinery up to 30lbs.
